Bombs, vid of exploding turtle found in NY search

KNOX, N.Y. — Police say a search of a New York home has turned up explosives and a video of a group of people blowing up a turtle.

Four men and a boy have been arrested.

Albany County sheriff’s officials say they were searching the home of a suspect in an Internet scam case Friday when they discovered guns, homemade bombs, bomb-making instructions and bottles of chloroform. They say they also found a video in which the men strap a pipe bomb to a snapping turtle and watch it explode.

Police say they don’t know what the men intended to do with the materials at the home in Knox, 20 miles west of Albany. Undersheriff Craig Apple says there were enough explosives “to remove the house from the face of the Earth.”

The defendants are charged with weapon possession, conspiracy and animal torture.
