LON - Thanks to French captain Thierry Henry’s ‘hand of frog’ goal in World Cup qualifier against Ireland, his team has hit a jackpot.

Henry negotiated a deal where players earned bonuses of up to 406,600 pounds for reaching next year’s World Cup, The Sun reports.

This means Henry’s double handball last week has meant his pals landing on a hand of wad.

Henry will pocket 382,075 pounds from the deal as each player was due 12,264 pounds for every group stage and friendly win - with each win bonus doubled if they qualified.

Karim Benzema and Alou Diarra were named in every squad during the campaign and each collected the maximum 406,603 pounds, which included other bonuses.

Boss Raymond Domenech scooped 813,207 pounds from his own deal.

“If I was coach of a club, I would be earning 10 times the amount I am now,” he said.

Swedish referee Martin Hansson, who failed to spot Henry’s handball, admitted: “I’ve wondered whether to give up this job. But I now realise it was not my fault.” (ANI)
