TAIWAN, CHINA (GaeaTimes.com) — This might sound absurd. But a new species of animal called Liger is created by the cross breed of a lion and a tiger. This miracle happened in Taiwan.

Huang Kuo-nan, a private zoo keeper in Taiwan is the convicted person behind creating the country’s first Liger. He is under investigation for illegally breeding two animals from different species.

According to Huang the parents of the Liger are a Bengal tigress, named Beauty and a male African lion named Simba. Authorities accused that Huang had intentionally kept the lion and the tigress together in the same cage.

Huang refused all the allegations against him. He said that Beauty and Simba have been living together since they were small. They started mating each other three years ago but this was the first time that Beauty gave birth to triplets. Unfortunately only two of the baby cubs survived.

Liger being a hybrid cannot reproduce. The convicted person, Huang is kept under investigation for the illegal trade of endangered species.
