Pet cat dyed pink, dumped in UK garden

LONDON — British animal welfare investigators say a pet cat was dyed pink and thrown into a stranger’s garden in southern England.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals said Saturday it is caring for the usually white cat, aged between one and two years old, after it was discovered in Swindon, west of London.

Veterinary surgeon Penny Gillespie said the female cat — temporarily named Pink — had been thoroughly covered in dye.

It is not known whether the cat had been abandoned, or taken from its home in a prank.

The case follows an incident last month when a British woman was video taped dumping a cat into a garbage bin.

Thousands of people watched the footage on YouTube, some vowing retribution.
