Donated couch comes with stowaway kitten
HURON, Ohio — Some old couches have a squeak. One that was delivered to an Ohio Goodwill store came with a meow. Goodwill employees heard mewing inside the store in northern Ohio and traced the sound to a sofa that was donated on Thursday. Store clerk Kaila Voight said they removed the cushions and out popped the head of a gray-and-black striped kitten, through a slit in the fabric covering the springs.
Goodwill workers then took apart the couch, just to make sure the little cat did not have company. There weren’t any others.
The donor called the store later to see if, by chance, a kitten she was missing was inside the couch. When she learned the cat had turned up, she told the shop to let a customer adopt it.
