Octomom unveiling pet birth control banner
LA HABRA, Calif. — Octuplets mom Nadya Suleman is unveiling a banner outside her Southern California home reading, “Don’t Let Your Dog or Cat Become an Octomom. Always Spay or Neuter.”
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is paying Suleman $5,000 to display the sign in her La Habra front yard. As an added incentive, the animal rights group is throwing in a month’s supply of veggie burgers and veggie hot dogs for Suleman and her 14 children.
PETA executive Tracy Reiman says the single mother plans a brief statement.
Reiman says the banner will help homeless cats and dogs. She notes that some seven million dogs and cats are turned over to animal shelters each year and nearly half are euthanized.
The octuplets, conceived by in vitro fertilization, were born in January 2009.
