By ANISunday, February 6, 2011
MELBOURNE - A man in Far North Queensland has survived after being attacked by a crocodile, according to police.
Cops said the man was swimming at a waterhole at Beening Creek, Napranum when the attack occurred around 6.30pm (AEST).
The man has puncture wounds in his palm and left wrist.
“The wounds are not life-threatening,” News.com.au quoted a police spokeswoman as saying.
“It’s now a matter for DERM (Department of Environment and Resource Management),” she said.
It’s been reported the man punched the crocodile in the head to ward off the attack, but police said they did not have those details.
A Queensland Health spokeswoman said the man is in a “stable condition” in Weipa hospital but could not reveal any other information because of privacy regulations. (ANI)
